About us
The Rotary Club of Kira, chartered on 12 March 2020, is a vibrant and dynamic member of Rotary International—one of the world’s largest and most respected service organizations. With a strong foundation as a non-political and non-religious entity, Rotary unites professionals and change-makers dedicated to improving lives and fostering sustainable development across communities. Located in Kira Municipality and founded with the support of RC Kla Ssese and RC Namugongo, the club has quickly become a beacon of service, growth, and fellowship.
From its formation, the Rotary Club of Kira proved its unwavering dedication to service by playing a pivotal role during the Covid-19 pandemic, supporting the community at a time when it was most needed. The club currently boasts a diverse membership of 71 individuals from various professions, with 9 more members set to be inducted. These passionate individuals share a common vision: to uplift and transform communities, create lasting change, and positively impact lives locally and globally.
The club’s goals center on empowering the community through impactful projects that address key challenges such as health, education, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation. By leveraging the professional expertise, skills, and networks of its members, the club also strives to mentor young leaders, foster economic opportunities, and implement sustainable initiatives that improve the quality of life. A major part of its focus is to support youth and education through mentorship, scholarships, and skills development to secure a brighter future for generations to come. Additionally, the club seeks to champion environmental protection by promoting clean water access, proper sanitation, and eco-friendly practices for a healthier planet.
The Rotary Club of Kira is also committed to strengthening the bonds of fellowship among its members, recognizing that collaboration and friendship are the keys to achieving greater impact. Members meet every Wednesday at 7:00 pm at Zebra Spot Restaurant, located next to Kira Police Division offices on Kira-Namugongo Road. These weekly meetings provide opportunities for planning, fellowship, and ensuring that the club remains on track to meet its goals and targets.
Looking ahead, the Rotary Club of Kira envisions expanding its impact by partnering with local and international stakeholders, growing its membership to include more passionate individuals, and implementing flagship projects like “Run for the Nile” to raise awareness, support, and funding for critical causes. The club continues to embrace Rotary International’s principle of “Service Above Self,” firmly believing that lasting change begins with individuals willing to take action.
With a shared commitment to serve, grow, and inspire, the Rotary Club of Kira welcomes professionals, business leaders, and passionate individuals eager to make a difference. Together, we can uplift communities, create sustainable solutions, and leave a lasting legacy of service for generations to come.
